Many investors own stocks from the Dow Jones and the S&P 500. Both indices include 500 leading companies in leading industries of the U.S. economy. The S&P 500 has over $5.58 trillion benchmarked, with index assets comprising approximately $1.31 trillion of this total. Investors with a limited capital amount couldn't own every stock of the index. To get real bargains, they need to buy the cheapest stocks of the index. In order to find the cheapest dividend stocks, I screened the index by companies with a P/S and P/B ratio of less than one as well as a current P/E ratio below 15. Twelve companies remained.
