BP Apologizes, Suspends Dividend

The outcome of the yesterday’s meeting between BP plc (BP) and the U.S. President is positive. An agreement was reached to create a $20 billion claims fund over the next three and a half years and the company has decided not to pay dividends to shareholders for the rest of the year, including the one scheduled for June 21 totaling about $2.6 billion. The entire group has been braving the after-effects of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill on April 20, and has already taken several steps to protect the interest of the people who live along the Gulf Coast and depend on it for their livelihood....
